A WIKI can be seen as a knowledge base were contributors help constructing the content in a structured way!
Take a look at WIKIPEDIA.
Anybody in the writer group can feed the WIKI with his knowledge on specific subjects of choice. IN addition there is forum where subjects are discussed.
In terms of subject matter expertise the wiki can be set up for easely looking up any information. In the text you can make make references to all available information that is stored on the internet or in specific files.
A wiki is something that lives and evolves and is pushed by the community involved.In our case Taifun Nerds..;-)
In comparison to an interest group like Yahoo it offers significant additional functionality....
