    Hi,

I've been wondering about the connections in the engine bay for the 2" (approx) tubing.

As far as the heat exchanger goes, I have no problem, - the cowling vent at the front connects to the heat exchanger, the other heat
exchanger connection goes to the "square" box where the "cabin heat" flap control is.

There is another 2" hole pointing downwards on the cowling on the opposite side to the exhaust. On my Taifun, this is connected by a long length of 2" tubing to the nose wheel "gate" cover. It seems to be in some way equalising the pressure in the nose wheel bay with the outside world.

The tubing has been connected like this since I got the plane.

My query is: When connected like this, the "fresh air" input to the cabin comes from an unconnected 2" hole on the side of the square
cabin heat flap box. This means that this "fresh air" is being drawn directly from the air in the engine compartment. It strikes me that
it would be more sensible for the fresh air to this cabin heat flap box should come from the outside world, in other words, from the
downwards pointing vent. But if I connect it to there, where should the wheel box vent connect to - nothing?

I occasionally get a little petrol smell, sometimes a little exhaust smell at the present time, but I think this is hardly surprising
given the fact that the cabin air is coming directly from the vicinity of an engine working at full grunt.

How is the tubing connected in your Taifuns?

    Thanks

    Dave

On #1033 tubing connects outside air tube on lower left cowl to left side inlet to air valve box.

    Aha! Thanks Bob!

Is there any connection to the nose undercarriage cover box?
