kd6veb Posted July 17, 2013 Report Posted July 17, 2013 Hi GangSince I have owned the Phoenix my oil pressure indication varies over about 20 psi continuously and rapidly under all throttle positions always within the green band. I have never done anything about it and it has not changed over 2 years and 250 hours of engine time. Rotax has just come out with a service bulletin on certain of the fuel pumps that covers my one. They suggest replacement of the fuel pump at a convenient time. The number of the Service Bulletin is SB 912 063 R1 and the pumps affected 892542 and 892546. These numbers are etched on the the input flanges and are clearly visible. The paper work and video on the replacement of the filter are excellent and I suggest you view them from the Rotax web site. Since we have an electrical pump in addition to the mechanical pump we have redundancy and I think the current Phoenix's can be flown reasonably safely as I do mine until the fuel pumps can be replaced. That said I am told that there is a wait for replacement pumps due to manufacturing problems. My annual is this month. Oh well!Dave Quote
chasers03 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Posted July 18, 2013 Dave I stopped my 912UL oil pressure vary by changing out the relief valve to the new style parts which I found at Lockwood spring 838122, plug 841983, and cone 857230. The cone upped my oil pressure to 3.0 bars and did away with the variation which sometimes went down to 2.0 bars. Quote
