Question, when thermaling, the manul suggest 49 kts and one notch of flaps. My understanding is that may reduce the glide ratio but may improve the minimum sink rate, has anyone used flaps when thermaling, and what was the performance?Pipistrell Virus N282TT Quote

Rand Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Roger - sorry for the late response - hard to measure best glide and min sink, but I think the rationale for flaps in thermal is to reduce stall speed enabling tighter turns in the narrow column thermals. rand Quote
