Registered No longer active on TMGA Posted August 30, 2014 Registered Report Posted August 30, 2014 I hangar tested the new SkyView video adapter this afternoon. The adapter is small, connects to a USB port on the display, and shows the video on the display at 100% or 50%. Here's the really cheap $10 video camera I had from another project, mounted on the cowling. It shows the cable going inside the vent, but it isn't actually installed there yet. Here's the camera video displayed on the Skyview screen using the 100% setting:And here is using the 50% setting to share with the engine page (the PFD and Map pages can be used instead - inflight selectable): I'd rather have the camera mounted underneath the cowl, so it can look down as well as forward. It'd be easier to fly over a dust devil with that view, for example, and give an even better view forward for taxiing. The dealer thought a rear facing camera would be great for monitoring a glider being towed. I'm not sure how valuable the video feature will be, but it's cheap enough ($200) and easy enough to try.
