Jim Lee
Twas the night before Christmas, and the air was smooth Passing over the Manzanos, the Phoenix in full cruise Heading for Sedona, should be there soon, All in the green and XM for tunes. The pilots were nestled all snug in their seats, While they ate sugar-plums and other nice treats. The cabin heat warmed their toes and kept out the cold, And the Rotax engine spun prop and ran bold. When over the headsets there arose such a clatter, The Dynon display yelled “Traffic!”, oh what was the matter? We sat up in our seats and scanned left and right, As we swept past the snow in the early moonlight. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature sleigh, and six tiny reindeer (for better fuel economy). With a little old driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. More rapid than eagles his coursers they came, And he gestured, and pointed, and we did the same! We flew through his wake and everything slammed, He had caught us off guard and buzzed us grand. As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly, When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky. Santa banked right, pulled up, and closed the airbrake, Flew toward the stars and max climb he did make. He must have turned the transponder off to catch us with glee, Put flaps to negative and dove from the night sky at Vne He called on twenty three three, ‘ere he drove out of sight, "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!" Steve Sliwa
BTW. An airline pilot sent me this picture. Apparently with the Dec 21 registration of drones, they thought flying around Christmas time would be safe. Apparently they are other airborne safety concerns.
