Gfeldman Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 Does anyone know where to get new rubber gaskets for fuel caps- mine are starting to show cracks after 2 years. George Feldman Quote
Jim Lee Posted January 11, 2018 Report Posted January 11, 2018 I am going to order some from the O Ring Store, George. I will let you know when I have them. Quote
Registered No longer active on TMGA Posted January 12, 2018 Registered Report Posted January 12, 2018 O-rings of the proper material should last a lot longer than 2 years, especially since they are not in contact with the fuel. Do we know why they failed so soon, and was it both caps, or perhaps just the left wing cap? Quote
Gfeldman Posted January 19, 2018 Author Report Posted January 19, 2018 Hi Eric, I really don't know why. The gaskets are not in direct contact with fuel but they are constantly exposed to the fumes. What do yours look like? George Quote
Registered No longer active on TMGA Posted January 20, 2018 Registered Report Posted January 20, 2018 I'll look next time I'm at the hangar - maybe Sunday. I haven't noticed any problems. Quote
Registered No longer active on TMGA Posted January 24, 2018 Registered Report Posted January 24, 2018 I examined the o-rings on my fuel caps today. They appear to be in excellent condition, with only some silver discoloration from the aluminum seat. The o-rings are at least 4 years old, as I've had the plane for since March 2014, and never replaced them. Most my fuel has been ethanol-free auto gasoline, with 100LL being the only other fuel. I don't know if the type of fuel makes any difference, however. Quote
Gfeldman Posted January 24, 2018 Author Report Posted January 24, 2018 Hi eric thanks for the info. I’ll try to remember to photograph mine and send it to our forum george Quote
