Dear sirs,
Including you can find LIMBACH Maintenance Instruction 10.3 “Check and adjustment of carburettor Zenith 150 CD 3”.
All parts are available at the LIMBACH factory or your US LIMBACH supplier.
For any questions please contact Mr. Salomon at peter.salomon@yahoo.com

Hello all,
I am new to this group and still trying to buy a Taifun for use here in Australia.
These Constant Displacement carburettors are the most misunderstood of all and a good starting point is MI 10.3 as Cornelia Korff says.
The zenith carburettor can only work properly if the float level is correct. The setting is 16.5mm and I have made a very simple tool for
getting this right. Anybody who wants a drawing of this just email me. If you decide to buy a tool for adjusting the main jet be aware that there are two types, slot or hex. plus some early types that have the adjustment on the bottom of the fuel bowl. The main jet tool helps prevent damage to the diaphram.
The correct needle for L2000 EB and L2400 EB is B5CK and the float chamber needle and seat is 1.75. Make sure the needle and seat is brass not nylon as is usually supplied by automotive stores.
The mixture adjustment is to compensate for slight variations in floats and the way the needle mounts in the piston. This adjustment
basically only affects the idle mixture. If the carburettor is set up correctly a lean mixture can be caused by leaks around a worn throttle
spindle or other air leaks. Rich mixture indicates a damaged diaphram. The oil in the damper is to help richen the mixture on acceleratio and should be weight 68 not engine oil which is viscosity modified. I suppose engine oil is better than no oil. You can test the mixture by raising and lowering the damper piston while on idle - with care. If you want to help your Limbach reach TBO make sure the carburettors are perfectly balanced with each other.
Regards, John

Thanks John and Cornelia
Your assistance is appreciated. I have not had any success in getting Limbach to even respond to my inquiries. I am puzzled in that my engine manual lists the carb as a Zenith 150 CD 3 as does the current specs on new Limbach engines but these carbs are no where to be found. Secondly, in a closer look at what is installed I find a Solex 150 even harder to find and the log book on a plane with 300 hours total has no record or indication of a change or alteration. Any knowledge of either. This is frustrating as a $20 part has a ship grounded.

Dear Fred,
I have no problem to get contact with LIMBACH. Please look to MI 10.3 and tell me which parts you actually need, I will order them from Limbach for you. The carburettor is a STROMBERG-ZENITH 150 CD 3.

John
The Zentih 150 CD was on the MG Spitfires and easy to obtain here, are all parts the same, need a damper and part numbers seem to differ. Is there a cross reference on the carbs…..

Fred,
It is the same carburettor made under licence by Solex. The CD 150 is
fitted to many english vehicles and some Volvos. Not to be confused
with the SU carbies.

Fred, I don't know of any cross reference but the parts should be the
same.
John.
