Dear All:
Last time I flew, after landing I found that my left toe brake was
inoperative. A check of the resevoir showed half full, no hydraulic leaks
visible outside the glider. I asked the A&P at my airport to find the
problem and repair it, and here is what he found:
The rudder cable from the left pedal chafed through an aluminum hydraulic
line and created a hole! No question that this had happened.
On the right side, there was another potential problem: sometime in the past
when some electrical equipment was installed, new wires were tie wrapped to
an existing , well protected, cable bundle. However, one of the tie wraps
also included the right rudder cable. The electrical wires were undamaged
and the insulation was all in place, but not a good situation.
Best

I had the brake wires rerouted to avoid shaving through the aluminum
lines. I remember seeing some photos.

(I'm passing this along from Holliday, who needs help, quick!)
Dear Xoggers,
Wanted to fly last weekend, but I noticed the tail wheel lock is not
working properly. When I jacked the tail wheel off the ground, it
turns 360 degrees just fine, and I can feel a detente as it locks and
un-locks. But, when it locks, and I move the tail wheel back and
forth with my hand, it does not move the rudder back and forth like
it should. When I move the rudder back and forth, the tail wheel
will move back and forth with it, but not vice versa.
Has anyone repaired the tail wheel assembly before? Any tricks for
suggestions you can give me? It looks like it comes apart when the
nut on the central bolt is removed.
What parts usually wear out here? Is it part no. 13, the "actuator"?
Chuck, do you have spare parts for the tail wheel?
Thanks for any help you all can give me.

Holliday,
We only stock the rubber shock absorber here at Ximango USA. Other metal
parts we get sent direct from the factory.
