My advise would be to be very careful of scammers. When I was trying to sell my Vivat motorglider, I had what seemed like a legitimate offer from someone in Brazil. They offered to send me a cashiers check for more than I was asking, and the overage was to be sent "their" shipping company. The scammers issue a fake cashiers check, you cash it at the bank and send the remainder to their shipping company. Meanwhile the check is a fake, that evens fools the bank, but it is not discovered for several weeks. You have sent "good" money to their shipping company, which is a "front" and you are out that (your!) money.
AOPA warned me about this scam and I ignored the offer.
Sorry to hear you're selling your ship! Good luck with the sale.
Best regards,
Holliday Obrecht

Thanks for the warning. I picked up the same warning from EAA (or was it AOPA) and I am being very cautious. The first step was to verify the that the person making the inquiry was real. Apparently so, at least I found his picture and address on Internet. Not sure it will go through, though- I am getting the price of disassembly and shipping for him from a shipper in the US; it may appreciable and kill the deal.
If I have not found a buyer in the Sping/Summer, I may start a program of refurbrishment and keep the Ximango.
I hope all goes well with you and Shelley.

Thread Title : Selling a plane overseas
:DI just sold a RV-7A to a fellow in Melbourne, Australia. Contact Craig Vincent at SkyView Aviation (209)835-7667 or (209)609-6730. They are located in Tracy, CA and are a very reputable organization. You're welcome to tell Craig I sikked you onto him. They handle all the details including disassembly, de-registering, packing and shipping, will even ferry the plane to Tracy (they ferry planes all over the US). The fellow who bought the plane had his bank wire the money (in US$) directly into my bank account. SkyView will not release the plane to the buyer until you inform them you actually have the money. Their address is 5749 South Tracy Blvd., Tracy, CA 95377. Check it out -- worked very well for me.
