Flying Magazine newsletter gave me this idea.  Let's collect up posts of some of the best aviation videos from 2015 and put them here.  You can just paste the YouTube video URL into the edit box and it will be properly handled.

(Sometimes you need to paste without formatting.  Hovering over the edit box you'll get a tool tip for how to do it based upon your computer set-up.  In mine, it says old the cmd-key + right-mouse-click.  It opens up a box into which you can paste the URL and it will be passed without formatting that you might have picked up.)

Emergency Landing During Washington Flyover

During one of the most spectacular displays of the year — a mega warbird flyover to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (V-E) Day — a TBM Avenger pilot had to react quickly to smoke in the cockpit while flying in formation. Cockpit footage was released of the intense emergency situation, which ended with a great landing.

Aviation Week & Space Technology: Chronicling 100 Years of Aerospace Achievements

Here is Aviation Week and Space Technology's video chronicling 100 years of aerospace achievement.  'Av Week' is the magazine that we all got when I was active in the industry.  In the cold war days, I heard that Russians would get a copy off the newsstands when it first came out in DC and they translators would work on it while it was being flown back to Russia so they could have a fully translated version ready to go when they landed.  The magazine was notorious for staying on top of all the developments and reporting (leaking) rumors and observations.  I worked at one Boeing facility once that was specifically configured to make it difficult for Av Week & Spy Technology (another nickname) to get photos of their designs under evaluation.  -- Steve

World Record - 100 Drones Perform to Beethoven's 5th Symphony - Germany Nov 2015

A video has just been released of a Guinness Record-breaking flight for the most drones airborne simultaneously, set in November at Flugplatz Ahrenlohe in Tornesch, Germany, a few miles northwest of Hamburg. “Drone 100” coordinated 100 UAS and provided a terrific show with multicolored aircraft creating patterns in the night skies.
The patterned flight took years to create and was arranged by Intel Corporation in collaboration with Ars Electronica Futurelab. The drones were controlled by a ground crew using PCs powered by Intel hardware. The record-breaking show was flown along with a live performance of Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, with the orchestra on site at the airport.
