The engine manual says "lubricate magneto coupling with about 10 drops of adhesive oil using the the oiler. (turn the engine slowly by hand in order to achieve adequate lubrication (i.e Molikote)"  I called Unison (Slick) and none of their newer magnetos are lubricated..as a matter of fact the their technical group was adamant about preventing oils getting into their products. He (Joe) was not
aware of any lubrication scheme. (but they haven't made a 4230 for 20 years- replaced by 4330)

My question : is "adhesive oil".. some sort of grease? I will call Limbach on Monday unless someone knows the answer.

Beth and I just returned from a trip to Des Moines and back. Displayed the airplane at a fly-in at an aviation Museum in Iowa, On
the trip out it was mostly 11,500, on the way back mostly 8,500. Had terrible headwinds coming thru Kansas and ended up staying in
Goodland, KS. (GLD.) Highly recommended!  The FBO (Butterfly) loaned us a car and there is a restaurant on the
field that may seduce me into that "$100 hamburger" run, although this run would be for their homemade pie. Incredible! The folks at the restaurant tell me that people from Colorado Springs order whole pies and then fly there to pick them up.. I can believe
it, their strawberry-rhubarb is unquestionably the best I have ever eaten.

    20822 (Limbach L2400 EB.1 )had an oil change( Castrol 20w-50) yesterday ~ 50 hrs. new filter - a NAPA GOLD 1822 spin-off(anyone
using anything different?). Adjusted valves (the exhausts had tightened up a bit..common to new engines, I understand). In general, the airplane is doing fine. (according to AOPA this airplane is about 10yrs younger than the average airplane out there.)

To paraphrase Dora : "Just keep flyin'"
    Bests to the group.

The best oil for the magneto coupling is chain saw bar oil and some people use motor bike chain oil. Your Unison advise is correct, that is no lube for the slick just the flexible coupling. If you find oil leakage from the bottom vent get the magneto serviced. The recomended oil filter for the L2400 is a MANN W77 which may not be available in your part of the world. Be aware of different relief
valve pressures if using a substitute.

    John.
