    Rob,

    I have read with interest your radio squeal problems in 2004.  I'm having=
     the same problem.  Did your fix finally cure it?

    I finally dug into the problem and started tracing wires after completely l=
    oosing the ability to transmit with the right stick.=A0 I quickly found a p=
    roblem with one of the two wires from the PTT on the right stick, where one=
     of those wires came out of a harness and was being pinched by the control =
    system.=A0 The signal was being sent to ground as well as through the trans=
    mit circuit, which I believe contributed to the squeal.=A0 Eventually this =
    problem manifested itself into a complete "open", denying me any ability to=
     transmit through the PTT on the right stick.=A0 I've recently removed this=
     bad wire and replaced it with a new one which appears to have solved my pr=
    oblem.=A0=20

    Rob,

    Thank you for relaying your experiences.  I've talked with a couple of ra=
    dio shops and they both think that if I'm only getting the squeal on some=
     freqs and not others that very likely it's not the radio but the install=
    ation.  The squeal occurs in the 118, 119 and the 129 range but doesn't o=
    ccur other places.  I'm working on it.
