Are any of you finding ablation of the pin (rivet) by the exhaust, so that
the effectiveness of the pin (rivet) is lost? We have one suspected instance of
this and are trying to get a better understanding of the problem.

Ximango Owners,
The newer exhaust clamps which are used to clamp the pipe to the muffler (PN
61625) have a rivet welded into them to act as a locating/holding pin. This
is to keep the muffler from sagging and touching the lower cowl.

Chuck, since I bought 131 the lower cowling has had a burn mark on it from
contacting the exhaust system. I keep replacing the insulation material at that
spot. Dick Brown

Dick,
I had the same problem starting about a year after I got my #97. I too replaced
insulation and epoxy/glass until I found the root cause for the sagging
exhaust: the clamps lost the pin.
Take the exhaust by the air inlet tube. If you can move that tube with moderate
force by 1/4 of an inch or more, check the clamps for missing pins.
Regards, Roland.

G'day Dick, Roland & Xoggers,
I know when 200-064 was new there was a problem with lower cowl burning,
this time around the exhaust pipe area. It required a Major Plastic Surgery
repair job.
Cheerio,
Sandra
