    Hello All,

I have been having a recurrent problem with my fuel selector valve on
s.n. 130.  Sometimes, when I have the red fuel selector pointed to
the right tank, it draws off the left tank.  Sometimes, when I have
the red fuel selector pointed to the left tank, it draws off the
right tank.  Also, the engine does not quit when the red selector is
pointed to "off".  But sometimes, the fuel selector valve behaves
normally.  I am grounded until I figure this out.  Right now, I only
have usable fuel from one tank because I can draw only from the left
tank.  I am scared that the fuel may cut off with no way for me to
control it.  I have inspected the valve and handle linkage.  It turns
OK and the shaft in the front of the valve appears to turn O.K.  I
guess something is messed up inside the valve.

I have written messages to Eng. Luis Castilho at Aeromot, but my
messages keep bouncing back with "unknown recipient".  I am sure I
used the correct email address.  I have written others at Aeromot and
all my messages keep bouncing back--I guess their server is down.

Does anyone have a diagram of the fuel valve so I can see how it
works without removing it first?  Any ideas on how to troubleshoot
it?  It's quite a job to remove it.

    Many thanks,
    Holliday Obrecht

    Holliday,

First of all, I am sorry you have this problem.  You are a good  customer and
    a good Ximango owner.

Here is 1) what we at Ximango USA know about your situation  and 2) a way
that I believe we can fix the problem:

The fuel selector valve is a complicated multi-valve mechanism which allows
two fuel inputs, two fuel outputs and two fuel returns, all governed by the
handle position (LEFT-OFF-RIGHT) and the internal valving of the  mechanism.
It is possible for this valving to get "out of rig" or  mis-adjusted and to
send the fuel the wrong way.  Aeromot has a bench-test  apparatus that allows
them to test and adjust these valves to insure they are  correct, which they do
on each new Ximango.  We know of no-one who  can test this valve in North
    America.

In the one previous case we know of where mis-valving happened on a  Ximango
several years after delivery of the aircraft, we arranged to have a new  valve
sent to the owner and the malfunctioning valve sent back  to Aeromot.  This
was done for a standard charge, which included  shipping and the overhaul cost
of the returned part.  (Aeromot took the  mis-adjusted valve back, repaired
and overhauled it, and put it into their spare  parts inventory.)

I will communicate with Aeromot and be back ASAP with instructions to  you of
how to do this, and the cost.  The previous cost for this effort was  in the
vicinity of $800, including shipping.  With exchange rates being  what they
are, I will not try to predict the current cost.

I am putting this reply on the XOG network so that owners know they have a
source for solving this kind of fairly-complicated problem.

    Regards,

    Chuck
