  • FAA after several years of preparation has just published the "GLIDER FLYING HANDBOOK". It is a good comprehensive book (11 chapters). Bob Wander wrote portions of it and SSA was heavily involved. It even has a few pictures of Ximangos including one on the cover. Some coverage of flying motorgliders is included. I recommend it.

Available from Bob Wander at www.bobwander.com or SSA and soon at a number of larger glider operations. Bob says: "Summary: FAA Glider Flying Handbook is, by a very large margin, the most authoritative, the most attractive, and most comprehensive study guide in the American soaring marketplace. Very reasonably priced at $34.00" He is advertising it for $31.

    Hi Heinz:
I'm sorry to hear about Chuck.  We were in contact before the SSA
convention regarding the 2 Ximangos that you guys have at Spruce Creek.
Please send him my get well wishes.  I'm traveling for the next 2 weeks,
but would like to talk to him about the planes when I get back.
I hope all is going well for you.  Did you ever get the Jag restored?
    All the best,
    Tom Frazer

We've all see various soaring videos/DVD's once or twice.  Here is one =
DVD you'll watch over and over, as you'll see all positions of your =
Ximango (OK a 300 turbo) flying from Porte Alegre, Brazil to Durango, =
Co. ferrying two new Ximangos.  Excellent narration and photography.  =
Perfect for your non-flying, cabin fever days, or for any Ximango =
prospect.  All very professional $25 from Jim McCann. =20
     email: jimdurango@jimtec.net=20
He has another DVD that is like a check out of a turbo AMT 300 Ximango, =
engine, interior, exterior, which is also very good.
