Jim is flying Ximango S/N 135 with competition numbers "JIM." His S/N 135 is
the final prototype of the USAF Academy TG-14. It was built last year and
delivered to Jim just before the Academy deliveries began in June, 2002. See
attached pre-race photos.
Jim claims it is the best-flying Ximango he has been in, and that's saying
something, since Jim has owned three or four of them by now and has 188+ hours
in the bird. By now, it has been outfitted with a Volkslogger, an SN-10B and
chutes, and the Attitude Indicator removed, to meet the FAI contest
requirements.
The other motorglider contestants include Russ Hustead in his
factory-sponsored Katana turbo as well as a trio of privately-owned Stemmes. Root for Jim -
he's carrying our flag! The race is handicapped, based on L/D, so we have a
good chance!

Dear Chuck (?) & Xoggers,
Thanks for the info re the Race, I didnt get the attatched photo but I'll
have a look on the website. It will be interesting to see how the Ximango
flies against the Dimona.
There is one over here used for towing (912S), and a pilot who has flown it
& also my glider reckons that the Ximango is nicer to fly- (perhaps he was
just being nice to me ???) Of course the Ximango looks prettier...
I assume that some pics will go on the XimangoUSA website in due course.
All the very best of luck to Jim !
Yours Soaringly,
Sandra Shemango
