Greetings Team,
Some folks on the Europa list this morning mentioned that Pennzoil has been
dropped from the approved oil list for the Rotax 9XX series. I've requested a
link to the info, but haven't gotten a response yet.
Has anybody heard anything about this?
I checked the Rotax Owners Group, but didn't see anything new.
On another note, I am officially declaring that spring is here in SE
Tennessee! I've managed 8.6 hours over the Easter weekend with an engine off flight
on Saturday of just over 270nm, mostly ridge running, but there were some
punchy thermals along the way that allowed me to jump valleys and extend my run
down and back into Alabama over and along Lookout Mountain. At times the
thermal lift was approaching 10 knots, although it wasn't going that high due to
an inversion. Chattanooga's AWOS was calling cloudbase at 8000', but I never
managed to get through the inversion at about 4500'. Later in the day, after
the thermals simmered down a bit, I was able to run along pretty consistently
at 80-90 knots in the ridge lift. Sunday was good, too, and I flew 244 nm in
ridge and thermals. I could have gone quite a bit farther on Sunday, but I
got cold and decided to head in early. Both flights originated here in the
Sequatchie Valley of SE Tennessee.
This is mighty good for March in these parts. We usually don't see
conditions like this until well into April.
I hope this is a sign of things to come!
Regards,
John Lawton
