    Bruce,

Horst is right.  You need the 4-inch variety.

In cases of emergency, we have screwed together a pair of the more-common
2-inch extensions, but that's a lot less desirable.

One possible complication with the 4-inch version is that the hex-shaped
wrenching surface may not fit through the hole in the wheel because it is too
big.  Try to find a stem extension that has a small-sized (or NO) wrenching
surface.  The latter will require pliers or vise-grips to screw on and off,  but
    that works.

    Dear All:

I found an air nozzle at a truck stop store that drivers of 18 wheelers use
to get air to their inner tires. It is about 6 inches long and I can poke
the tire filler valve with a little fishing around. I lose a bit of air
before I hit the sweet spot but always manage to fill the tires.

    Best
    Ted

You can buy them of the shelf in a variety of lengths and even materials.  I
bought my last from Autopro, but also discovered a range with our local tyre
(US 'tire') fitter. Good Luck, Paul H.
